Equity, diversity and inclusion

We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in how we work, make decisions and treat one another.

We value diversity in all its forms and recognise that different perspectives strengthen the quality, integrity and impact of our work.

Our approach goes beyond compliance. We want everyone to contribute fully and authentically, supported by fair and inclusive practices in recruitment, development and everyday working life.

We are committed to:

  • fair and inclusive recruitment and employment practices
  • reducing barriers that disadvantage individuals or groups
  • recognising and supporting different experiences and needs
  • designing accessible and inclusive ways of working.

To increase diversity in a sustained and authentic way, we regularly work in partnership with organisations including the Proud Science Alliance, Black in Biomed Conference, Black Women in Science Network and Onvero.

We believe fairness, respect and inclusion are fundamental to a healthy organisation – and essential to delivering our mission. Read about our EDI Advisory Committee.

We cannot produce change by continuing to do like for like. The first key is representation and community led, so that we're able to retain these diverse individuals and bring them into the sector, and hopefully change it.

I know that they do more than we even see, and for that we're super grateful...It's kind of indescribable how important and impactful that relationship has been for us.

Internships

For more than 10 years, we have offered internships that give PhD students experience outside academic research.

Interns learn how medical science links with policy, research funding and career development. They also see how evidence can help improve people’s health.

Internships usually last three months, and should be funded by your PhD programme. You will have the chance to work with leading medical researchers, policymakers and other health and science organisations. You will also gain useful work experience and build your professional network.

We work in a flexible, hybrid way, with our office headquarters in London.
